KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Tony Roma’s is known for their hefty portions and unbeatable promos. From 18 September – 5 November 2017, they’re breaking out the grill in full force. The Grilled to Perfection menu offers something for carnivores, pescatarians, and veggie lovers alike.
Don’t miss out on the platter of Grilled Veggie Crostinis (RM19.90, USD4.70). This is a dish that may well convert the veggie-averse because it’s just that good.
Ciabbata slathered with feta cheese, and topped with a medley of grilled vegetables? It’s wonderfully balanced with the tart feta and fresh basil.
Even so, don’t miss out the highlight of any meal at Tony Roma’s – The complimentary bread. Served upon placing your order, their warm mini loaf with herb butter always hits the spot.
Tony Roma’s offers up very generous portions, so do consider sharing if you’re on a diet or a small eater.
The Grilled Shrimp Primavera (RM44.90, USD10.60), is generously laden with shrimp that’s bursting with flavour to counter the somewhat bland pasta. The angel hair pasta is tossed in garlic chive butter with mushrooms, feta, and tomatoes. Even with the flavourful prawns, this dish was too bland for us.
If you’re in a group or can’t quite decide what to order, go for the Original Beef Back Ribs & Steakhouse Combo (RM93.90, USD22.20).
You’ll be treated to full-sized portions: Two enormous beef ribs, a 200g sirloin steak, loaded mashed potatoes, and grilled vegetables. It’s a great way to try out a range of dishes from their menu.
The potatoes are creamy and delicious, and we can’t recommend them enough. The mild char on the grilled vegetables gives a nice hit to the palate to balance the explosion of flavour you’ll find on this platter.
But just how does the meat fare?
We’ve never really enjoyed beef ribs, but these changed our stance. On their own, these are served in twos or as a full rack, so you’re getting an a la carte portion on this platter.
We’re beyond shocked by just how good these were. Glazed with their TR Original sauce, these were sticky and as tender as you could possibly want them to be.
In fact, they literally fall off the bone so you don’t miss a single morsel.
The steak, however was underwhelming. Also a full-sized portion, this 200g (10oz) sirloin was too tough.
Flavour-wise it was excellent, but it isn’t a melt-in-your-mouth steak if that’s what you’re looking for. However, it’s served with a choice of three flavoured butters: Chive Butter, Worcestershire Butter or Bleu Cheese Butter.
We know from the complimentary bread that Tony Roma’s does excellent flavoured butter, so we’re not surprised that these are a hit. We tried the chive butter with our steak, and it definitely helped improve how it went down.
Romaritas (RM19.90, USD4.70) are a staple on their menu, and they’re being highlighted over the course of this promotion.
They’re served up in four flavours: Wild Berry Romarita, Strawberry Romarita, Mango Romarita, and of course the basic Romarita. These are incredibly sweet, and coupled with the sugar rim, they’re a dessert in themselves. The orange and lime juices that are present in each of them help to balance out the sweetness.
If you’re looking for a plated dessert, Grilled to Perfection is offering up their menu staple. TR’s Chocolate Avalanche (RM17.90, USD4.24) is a molten chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice-cream and Oreo crumble. We didn’t get a chance to sample this, but it sounds divine and ideal for sharing. – The Binge
