With the skincare revolution that’s swept the beauty world, we find ourselves spoilt for choice. Every conceivable issue is catered to, and a routine with less than six products seems inadequate. Let alone the suggestion that a ten-step skincare regime is essential.
Yes, we love Korean skincare products, but we’ve pared down our essentials to a handful that make the biggest difference to our skin. Trust us when we tell you that Laneige has you covered.
The health of your skin is affected by a multitude of factors. For ideal skin, you really do need to treat your body like the proverbial temple. You’ll have to down that recommended two litres of water per day, and eat healthy while you’re at it.
You’re going to have to limit the amount of caffeine, alcohol and fried food (for starters) that you consume, which will make you tired enough to go to sleep at the right time. Not only do you need the seven hours of beauty sleep, there’s a certain time it has to coincide with as well. You really do have to be asleep between the hours of 11 pm and 2 am.
At The Binge, we love our french fries and coffee; and if an eleven o’clock bedtime existed we’d own unicorns as well. Add to that the fact that we adore makeup, and we have the recipe for everything that will conceivably mess your skin up.
The fact of the matter is that between work, our social lives, parenting, and finding time to unwind, most of what we should be doing just isn’t practical. Instead, we look to skincare products that help us still look put together after a late night.
Fix Your Face
Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask has a cult following for good reason.
It was the first mask to hit the market that’s meant to be left on as you sleep. Hydration is key to beautiful skin, and the Water Sleeping Mask locks moisture in while you snooze. This is particularly important if you sleep in an air-conditioned room, or work in one all day.
If you have extremely dry skin you can use this mask daily, or even during the day as a moisturiser. However, if you have combination/oily skin, you should probably stick to using it every other night.
It’s definitely more noticeable the day after you use it, and the effects do wear off without prolonged use. This is why it’s recommended to be used over their Emulsion.
The Emulsion, even on its own, is a great long-term solution to sensitive and/or dry skin. If you have dry patches due to conditions such as eczema, it’s particularly useful. When used along with the Water Sleeping Mask, it’s miraculous.
For the duration of the Waterful Sharing Campaign, Laneige has the Water Sleeping Mask available in Lavender (RM120, USD27.70) as well. This smells heavenly, and would be a great addition to your routine should you have trouble unwinding at night. We highly recommend stocking up before the campaign ends.
There’s no doubt that the eyes are the windows to our sleep-deprived souls. And this year, Laneige presents us with the product we’re a little too excited about – the Eye Sleeping Mask (RM145, USD33.50).
It’s meant to help with puffiness and dark circles. It contains caffeine, which means we’re already on board with this product because it’s one of the most effective quick fixes when it comes to eye care.
This is a promising product for the long haul as well. It comes with a ceramic applicator which you would use to massage the under eye area in circular motions. This promotes blood flow, and that can only be a good thing.
Our Lips are Sealed
As we mentioned, not drinking enough water coupled with high levels of caffeine intake are primary factors in dehydrated skin. That is scarcely more evident than with your lips.
While Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask has been on the market for a while, this year’s releases are all about personalising your experience.
They’ve released four new variants in Berry, Grapefruit, Apple Lime, and Vanilla (RM75, USD17.30 each).
Our vote goes to the Grapefruit varietal as its just an incredibly refreshing and calming scent.
The Cheat Kit
If you’re looking to try a few other products from Laneige, check out the limited edition Water Sleeping Mask Signature Set.
The two masks alone are worth getting it for, but it gives you the chance to try out a few of their other products. While this kit contains the Light Emulsion, we’d recommend the Moisture Emulsion over it. – The Binge
